Our Standard of Scrutiny

We explain how analytical systems can widen sporting observation—and how they can narrow opportunity when their limits disappear behind a confident score.

Useful to the people around the athlete

crimsonvalleyscand.living is an independent educational website for scouts, coaches, parents and readers interested in responsible sports analytics. We follow an evidence trail from measurement to modelling, validation and human review.

We are not a scouting agency, a club, a governing body or an athlete-assessment service. We do not rank individuals, broker trials or promise sporting outcomes. Our aim is to make the questions behind a recommendation easier to understand and harder to evade.

Keep claims proportionate to evidence

Separate the claim from the method

A sophisticated method can still answer the wrong question. We distinguish measurement quality, predictive performance and the appropriateness of a decision.

Make uncertainty visible

We explain limitations, missing coverage and plausible alternative interpretations. We do not treat a model’s output as a complete account of an athlete.

Use sources without borrowing authority

We link to relevant standards, public institutions and technical documentation. A reference is not an endorsement, partnership or certification.

Leave room for correction

Readers can challenge a factual statement or suggest a public source through our contact page. Include the page, the passage and the reason for the correction. Please avoid sending personal athlete data.

Our explanatory examples are general, not reports of an individual athlete’s assessment. Photographs provide atmosphere and sporting context; they do not indicate that pictured people were evaluated by AI.
